Valentine Nature Lover’s Hike This Sunday

Take a Valentine Nature Lover’s Hike this Sunday

Take Our Survey on Why You Love Nature!

Show your love of Nature – and work off that special Valentine date meal – by joining us for a small group winter hike this Sunday at 1 pm. We plan to meet at the Log Cabin and hike the flat southeast loop of the Tyrolean Trail (TT) as it runs along Charrette Creek. This hike takes about 45 minutes as it meanders along the creek and passes over it on foot bridges at several locations. A reminder that we will begin at the Log Cabin and not at the first TT trailhead immediately below Alpine Dam which you come to.

We chose this trail because during most winters the gravel road down and back up Alpine Dam can be nearly impassable over snow and ice. This year with so little snow we simply don’t have that problem, so it will be a rare treat to experience the trail in the winter. Who knows what we will see in wildlife activity given the relatively warm, dry winter.

2015 Frigid Valentine Hike at Farmhouse Field

The weather is expected to be better than the past two years, but could be wet. On our 2015 hike the temperature fell from the teens into single digits which kept our group of a dozen moving briskly. Last year we had several inches of fresh snow yet still had a few hardy spirits to join us as a test of loving Nature.

Please dress appropriate and bring your own water or hot beverage and we will bring the Valentine sweets. Just a reminder that this is not an Innsbrook Resort sponsored event nor are we a formal club, so the decision to participate is at your level of comfort.

Can’t make the hike? Then just tell us why you love Nature at Innsbrook. Leave a note in the comment field below or send us an email to and we will share our collective “Nature – Be My Valentine” wishes in the Spring newsletter.
