Innsbrook Nature Events Coming Soon (Corrected)

Missouri Conservationists to Visit Innsbrook for Book Signing & Wine Tasting on Friday, May 19

The Innsbrook Property Owners Association has invited Dan and Connie Burkhardt to visit Innsbrook on Friday evening, May 19, at 7 pm in the Charrette Creek Commons meeting room. Having worked with the Ted Jones family, who founded Edward Jones and later championed the Katy Trail, they are outspoken nature lovers of rural Missouri.  The Burkhardt’s are also founders of the Katy Land Trust (www.katylandtrust.org) that works to preserve the great beauty and heritage of the Missouri River Valley while promoting regional tourism.

They will discuss and sign copies of their most recent book “Growing Up With the River” that tells the history of the Missouri River Valley from the adventures of children over nine generations of families who inhabited our region. While it’s a great gift book for kids to enjoy at their Innsbrook retreat, we adults can learn much about the history of the local area.  This latest book follows their beautifully photographed “Missouri River Country: 100 Miles of Stories and Scenery From Hermann to the Confluence”.

Dan and Connie also own Bethlehem Valley Wines, located not that far from Innsbrook in Marthasville, and have recently restored the historic Peers General Store in Treloar. You are invited to arrive a few minutes early to sample some of their wines they have promised to bring along! Hope to see you there.

Nature & Wildlife Photography Workshop on Saturday, June 3

Our first Nature Chautauqua event for the summer will be on Saturday, June 3, from 10:30 am – 12 noon at the Charrette Creek Commons meeting room. We are excited to host a visit by Gary Hesse who is a professional photographer that teaches nature photography classes at Meramec Community College. Gary will present a fast-paced program of tips and tricks for getting those special outdoor photographs of landscapes and wildlife. Bring your camera and questions.

We also invite our own Innsbrook photo enthusiasts to join us and share what they have learned practicing their hobby in such a perfect setting. Just how did Cindy get these fox kits to look right at the camera without running away?

If you need more inspiration to sharpen your camera skills, then view some of these amazing photos of Innsbrook’s very own Bald Eagle family taken by Nature Group followers at  https://ibknature.com/gallery/innsbrook_eagles/.

The event from 10:30 am to 12 noon is free and open to all. At 1 pm, after a lunch break and weather permitting, there will be an optional hands-on photo expedition along an Innsbrook trail for those who desire more personalized instruction directly from our guest expert.
